Tour Accommodation Info – Vava'u

This will be a laid-back tropical adventure holiday - with whales! Tonga is still a pretty unspoiled place and not all that tourism-savvy. Our tour accommodation options (either the Harbourview Resort or the Adventure Backbacker Lodge – depending on your choice of tour) are places that we have stayed and know well. They offer good comfortable and friendly accommodation with kitchen facilities and helpful service. Staff will happily offer advice on other activities etc.

If you are looking for white-coated waiters serving you cocktails by the pool then this is not the destination for you. There are no multinational hotels and giant cruise ships in every bay, and no flashy night-clubs and mega shopping plazas. Picture perfect uninhabited islands abound though, and pristine waters and laid-back tropical days. If you would love to soak up some glorious, authentic island time, swim in clear and unbelievably blue waters, explore untouched coral reefs, meet some of the friendliest folk in the Pacific, plus participate in extraordinary whale watching opportunities and perhaps gaze into the eye of one of the ocean's ancient ones, then join us in Vava'u – the ‘pearl of the Pacific'…

The Harbourview Resort.

Vava'u Harbourview Resort offers quiet, self-contained and spacious bungalows with stunning harbour views set in a tropical garden.
This lovely, low key resort is beside the lovely Port of Refuge Harbour in Neiafu and is just a few minutes drive from the main town and business centre on the island of Vava'u.
All rooms have private facilities, queen size bed, extra bed, sitting area, bathroom with hot shower, and a private veranda. Each room has its own kitchenette with fridge, & cooking facilities, so that you can choose to eat in or visit one of the many popular restaurants in Vava'u. Rooms are serviced daily.
The resort has a great bbq area and a lovely little private beach plus a jetty for our boat pick-up and drop offs each whale-watching day.

The Adventure BackPacker Lodge

Right in the heart of Neiafu, the Adventure BackPacker Lodge offers quality budget accommodation – with a view.
Offering a range of share room options (twin/double or dorm rooms) with lots of shared bathroom facilities and a clean and well-equipped kitchen for guests' use.
They have comfortable seating areas, both indoors and outside and it is just a step outside to town, the harbour and the fruit and craft market.
The friendly, helpful staff can help you see more of Vava'u by helping to arrange a pushbike or scooter hire, or kayaking or fishing excursions.

Being based on the main island means that you will be free to head into town and experience the nightlife of a funky little harbour townand, when we aren't whale watching, you can head out on the water again, go scuba diving (excellent diving in Vava'u) or kayaking, or check out the great local craft markets and look into tropical island land life.
